After many years of a volunteer leading Fire District 4 in their spare time, the Commissioners realized that current laws and regulations have evolved to a level where a full-time career Fire Chief was necessary to keep the District abreast of increasing complex requirements. After 18 months of planning and a nation-wide recruiting search, on August 15th, 2018, Gregory T. Waters, a long-term resident and volunteer paramedic/firefighter with Fire District 4 began his service as the district’s first career Fire Chief. Chief Waters is able to focus his attention specifically on our district; its resources and challenges, updating policies and practices where needed, implementing more community outreach and participation with the Joyce Emergency Preparedness Project (JEPP), the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), as well as offering CPR training to the public and other identified needs.
